Four years ago, he was the elusive Italian boyfriend who never appeared in pictures; One pandemic, a wedding and a baby daughter later, Edo Mapelli Mozzi has come into his own and is stepping into his role of royal husband with true enthusiasm.

The entrepreneur has been keeping royal fans updated on his and Princess Beatrice's glitzy life since the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, sharing a beaming picture of them at Royal Ascot yesterday on Instagram.

The Italian developer, 38, initially kept a low profile when he and Beatrice started dating in late 2018, and after his September 26, 2019 proposal, eventually tying the knot on July 17 2020 in an intimate ceremony at Windsor, due to Covid-19 regulations in place at the time.

Online, especially, he seemed happy to focus on his property development business Banda Property, only posting rarely about personal updates.

However, as the royal family emerged from the pandemic, and following the very public departure of Prince Harry, 37 and Meghan Markle, 40, for the US, Edo has become more involved with royal life than ever, and is beginning to be more open on social media.

The ultimate Royal plus one

Edo has been a faithful plus one to Beatrice at all royal occasions since coronavirus social distancing guidelines were dropped last summer.

The property tycoon carved some room in his busy schedule in order to accompany the Princess to countless events in the past year, often wearing outfits or accessories that matched hers, in a perfect example of power couple dressing.

On April 17 2021, he was by her side as she said goodbye to her grandfather the Duke of Edinburgh during an emotional ceremony in Windsor.

It was the couple's first official royal outing since their wedding, almost a year prior.

In happier times, the couple made a leisurely appearance at Wimbledon during the tennis season, while Beatrice was in the late stages of her pregnancy with Sienna.

The friend-turned-lover who initially shied away from the limelight

Beatrice and Edo are rumoured to have begun dating back in late 2018, after years of friendship, but little was known of their relationship, and they were rarely photographed together at events, even if they attended together.

Very little was known about Edo in these early stages of their relationship, apart from the fact he was an Italian property Tycoon who shared a two-year-old son named Wolfie with his ex partner.

Very little transpired of their relationship online, Beatrice using Instagram via a secret, private account, and Edo focusing his posts on his property developing business.

Fans had to wait until February 2019 for snaps of Edo and Beatrice together on nights out to emerge.

The pair were photographed hopping into a black cab together as they left the trendy London club The Chiltern Firehouse in the early hours of the morning.

A couple of weeks later, Edo and Beatrice finally made things officials, attending the Portrait Gala 2019 at the National Portrait Gallery as a pair, and several events after that in the run up to their engagement.

However, he did not attend an official royal engagements until he and Beatrice were married in July 17, and Edo had any big royal debut postponed by the coronavirus pandemic.

Edo also attended Kate Middleton's Westminster Abbey carol service with Beatrice on December 8, where he sat with her and Princess Eugenie, who attended without her husband Jack Brooksbank, 36.

At the beginning of the new year, Edo was a supportive figure at the Service of Thanksgiving for the life of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh at Westminster Abbey.

He was seen comforting a visibly distraught Beatrice during the emotional ceremony.

He even accompanied Beatrice during her two-day-long trip to Sweden for the World Dyslexia Assembly, where she met with Prince Carl Philip and his wife Princess Sofia.

As the royal family geared up for the Queen's Jubilee and royal events returned in full force, Edo seldom missed any.

He put on his best tuxedo to be Beatrice's plus one during the charity preview night of A Gallop Through History Platinum at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

A few days later, he donned a navy blue suit to tour The Chelsea Flower Show with his wife of nearly two years, who was wearing a blue floral number.

When the Jubilee celebrations kicked off on June 2, he was cheering from St James Palace as the Fly Past flew over London.

It is believed he, Sienna, Wolfie and Beatrice watched the fly past on a rooftop, with other members of the royal family that included Princess Eugenie, her husband Jack Brooksbank and their son August, who is 17-months-old.

Throughout the Jubilee weekend, Edo was present at several events attended by other royal members of the family.

He was seen dancing and laughing with Beatrice and Eugenie at the BBC Platinum Party at the Palace on Saturday June 4, and came back for royal seconds on Sunday 5, to attend the Platinum Pageant, bringing his son Wolfie with him.

The snaps of the Jubilee shed some light on the tranquil relationship Edo shares with his sister-in-law Eugenie, as the pair were often sat next to each other for the different shows, and seemed to be very friendly with one another.

Edo was also among the royals who showed up at the royal Ascot on Tuesday after it was announced the Queen would miss the first day of the Berkshire racing event.

It was the first time Edo was photographed at Ascot with the royal party, and as a member of the royal family since Beatrice and him began dating four years ago.

And Beatrice made his presence extra special by styling herself 'HRH Princess Beatrice, Mrs Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi' on the badge she wore on her dress for the event.

Dressed in a morning coat and top hat and with a tie that matched his wife's floral dress, Edo took to the racecourse like a fish to water, and seemed in his element as he rubbed elbows with Beatrice's cousin Zara Tindall, 41.

The Italian tycoon attended Ascot again yesterday, with a blue tie that perfectly matched Beatrice's white dress and white and blue straw hat.

As he enjoyed a tipple in the royal enclosure, next to his wife's aunts and uncle - which included the Prince of Wales, 73, the Duchess of Cornwall, 74, The Princess Royal, 71 and the Countess of Wessex, 57, private Edo seemed to have found his footing within the royal circles.
